Kyoto Minami Kaikan (for the best movie)
Across the street from Toji station of Kintetsu line is Kyoto Minami Kaikan. This small movie theater offers a constantly-changing wide variety of films: from old classics to the latest art and foreign films.
Every month has an all-night movie marathon called "popcorn night." Starting around 22:45, four films are shown until 6:30 the next morning with popcorn available the whole time. (Popcorn night costs 2400yen). The twist to this event is that the titles aren't announced beforehand, so you don't know what movie you're going to see until the film starts rolling.
